Salt River Project PERA Facility
The University of Arizona School of Journalism is sponsoring a lunch and presentation of Barry Goldwater’s photos on Saturday, March 21, at the Salt River Project’s PERA Facility, 1 E. Continental Drive, Tempe.
Goldwater, who died in 1998, spent a lifetime carrying a camera, and his favorite subjects were ancient cultures of Arizona and the state’s incredible landscapes.
The reception starts at 11 a.m., with a buffet lunch featuring sandwiches, sliders and salads at 11:30 a.m. Arizona Highways editor Robert Stieve will discuss Goldwater’s photos, followed by a Q&A featuring Stieve, Arizona Highways photo editor Jeff Kida and Daniel Swadener of Tempe, an art promoter and collector who is working with Alison Goldwater Ross on creating an exhibition of her grandfather’s photography in Wisconsin.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at www.tinyurl.com/UAGold20. Proceeds will help benefit student reporting projects and travel.
The Goldwater Foundation is holding a contest to win the “Valley of the Monuments” print (valued at $1,200) and donating three other prints for a silent auction at the event. Go to www.goldwaterfoundation.org to sign up for the $1,200 print.
